Words of Wisdom
BEAUTY
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
Confucius
No matter what people say, you are beautiful.
SUCCESS
I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
Bill Cosby
Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
Albert Einstein
Maybe you aren’t a millionaire but that does not make you unsuccessful. I’d say you are a success if you don’t compromise your integrity. Love your neighbor as yourself. GENUINELY try to make a positive impact on the world-do good for others to do good for others, not for the sake of your image. Stand for what is right. DO what is right. Don’t take things for granted. I’d say Mr. Stevenson put it best:
“The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.”
HUMOR
A sense of humor… is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life. Hugh Sidey
Like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air and you.
Langston Hughes
I truly believe that laughter is one of the best medicines out there.
DREAMS
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Walt Disney
Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
Harriet Tubman
You may not be exactly where you want to be now, but never forget your dreams.
LOVE
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Lao Tzu
Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.
Albert Einstein
Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.
Mother Teresa
The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.
Victor Hugo
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.
Mother Teresa
Love is not just meant for 2 people. It’s meant for all people-your family, friends, neighbors, and everyone in between. Don’t forget to love yourself because that is an important step for loving others. Everyone focuses on the “romantic” love so I wanted to remind folks that there’s more than that.
FAITH
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Have faith in God; God has faith in you.
Edwin Louis Cole
We are twice armed if we fight with faith.
Plato
FORGIVENESS
People can be more forgiving than you can imagine. But you have to forgive yourself. Let go of what’s bitter and move on.
Bill Cosby
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
Mahatma Gandhi
To err is human; to forgive, divine.
Alexander Pope
Harboring bitterness and unforgiveness profits you nothing. In fact, they rob you of a longer, more satisfying life. When you truly forgive, you make way for a brighter tomorrow.
This is not by any means an all-inclusive list. This list could go on and on and on. These were just a few things I wanted to share with you all.
“Mom, listen, I haven’t been together with Topanga for 22 years, but we have been together for 16. That’s a lot longer than most couples have been together. I mean, when we were born, you told me that we used to take walks in our strollers together around the block. When we were two, we were best friends. I mean, I knew everything about this girl. I knew her favorite color, her favorite food. Then we became six, Eric made fun of me because it wasn’t cool to have a best friend that was a girl or even know a girl. So for the next seven years I threw dirt at her. I like to call those “the lost years”. Then when I was thirteen, mom, she put me up against my locker and she kissed me. I mean, she gave me my first kiss. She taught me how to dance. She always was talking about these crazy things and I never understood a word she said. All I understood was that she was the girl I sat up every night thinking about, and when I’m with her, I feel happy to be alive. Like I can do anything. Even talk to you like this. So that’s, that’s what I think is love, mom. When I’m better because she’s here.” - Cory Matthews, Boy Meets World
